The Other Best Curry in Town?

It's often a hotly disputed debate; what is the best curry house in London? Everyone has their opinion and, if you walk along Brick Lane, most of the restaurants seem to have a prize or recommendation of some sort. So, an unending, controversial debate with numerous pretenders to the throne? Time for RoF About Town to weigh in.

We don't actually want to proclaim a King, but we do want to recommend one of our personal favourites (along with Needoo recommended earlier): Mirch Marsala is a curry powerhouse. It's seriously good food and well worth a visit. That's not to say it's the best in London (though many have labelled it as such), after all, every curry fan looks for something different in their marsalas. However, Mirch is a prince amongst men. If it were a football team it would definitely be one of the big four (pre-2009/2010).

Another of our favourite curries

In fact, whatever your favourite curry, we're confident you'll find something here to hit your taste buds in the right places. The Chilli Chicken Karahi is worth a try as it's so tasty your mouth will forgive the spicy pain. However, we highly recommend the lamb chops (and the mixed grill which is arguably the best we've ever tasted) which is the jewel in the curry crown. Be warned though - it's addictive. One of our mates once ate 16 chops in one sitting and began to sweat meat. He was desperately uncomfortable, until they brought out some mango lassi and then he pushed onto the main course.

Actually, enough talking about it, the mouth is watering just thinking about it. In fact, we want to go there now and feast on their delicately spiced meat. We'll see you there, but just remember it's BYO so make sure you've stocked up on the Cobras before you head down for a perfect pairing of lamb and beer. We've already forgotten what all the arguing was about.
