27 June 2009 (12:00 - 21:00)
The arrival of Wimbledon is always tinged with a little sadness. Because whilst it is undoubtedly the greatest event in the tennis calendar, for Londoners Wimbledon signals the threat of two weeks of truly miserable weather and Cliff Richard singing. And this year there will be the added stress of crossing fingers and toes for Andy Murray and wondering whether a British player really can go all the way.
That said, if the sun is shining and the Pimms is flowing there are really very few better ways to spend your day than watching world class tennis in a beautiful setting. For those of you lucky enough to have corporate tickets may we say now that we hate you? For those of you who aren't that lucky there are several options. Start dating somebody who works for The Lawn Tennis Association as they always have loads of free tickets. If that's not an option you can either get there early and queue for ground tickets or get there late and queue for resales. Ground tickets means you see more tennis but resale tickets generally give you better seats. The All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon, SW19 (020 8946 2244). Sat £17 ground tickets, £5 resale tickets after 3pm
