The London Literature Festival returns for its third year. Based on the Southbank, the festival hopes to attract the biggest and brightest names in the writing world, thereby making itself an unmissable annual event. Last year the festival appeared to have a million and one themes, this year it's not clear if it even has one. Nonetheless there are still some superb speakers to be seen including; Buzz Aldrin, Sarah Waters and Peter Akroyd. There are also lots of events taking place which you can check out here but the best bit is the fact that the UK's largest book crossing event will be taking place at the same time.

Penguin have donated a thousand books either about London or written by Londoners to the festival. These books will be left lying around for you to peruse and pass on, like a walking London Library. Just remember that when you've finished reading the book, leave it somewhere someone else will find it, not on your bookshelf. The Southbank, SE1 (020 7921 0600). Sat & Sun all day, £Free
