Comedian, folk artist and lover to Queen Victoria, Billy Connolly has had a somewhat varied career. Starting off on the fringe circuit he played in folk bands for years. Touring the country with a guitar he realised that he gained as big an audience for comedy songs as he did for traditional music. He also began to realise that the most successful bits of his set weren't when he was playing but when he was chatting to the crowd. This developed into a career in stand-up and a legend was born.

One of the foremost comedians in the UK there is nobody who doesn't love him. Despite a habit of telling tales with a very naughty ending and having a mouth that all the soap in Scotland couldn't clean up, everyone from school kids to grannies find him hilarious. Which is why getting tickets to his current show at the Hammersmith Apollo requires a big wallet and a lot of time to dedicate to your ebay account. Or you could just try the box office for returns.
