SNR Denton, Salans and Canadian firm to merge to become: Dentons
09 November 2012
's merger mania continues unabated. This long awaited merger with Salans will include Canadian firm Fraser Milner Casgrain too, and partners are being asked to vote on it next week.
Denton (itself a product of a merger between Denton Hall and Wilde Sapte) merged with US firm Sonnenschein in 2010. It's been looking at Salans
(pretty unknown in the UK but with a strong European presence) for a while, and now Canadian firm FMC hasalso been thrown into the mix. The Lawyer
reported that a three way merger is on the cards for the new year. And SNRD confirmed it to RollOnFriday yesterday evening, along with the new name, too - the firm will be called Dentons.
||The new firm. Almost.|
A spokesman for SNRD confirmed that the merger would be put to partners on Tuesday, with the recommendation that they vote in favour of the tie up.
The firms will be hoping that this race to bulk up and get dots on a map will help them buck a market that is currently favouring the global elite
. And while that may be the case, the downside is likely to be in redundancies in the many cities, including London, where there will be duplicate offices.
