Top month for shameless law firm marketing
15 February 2013
February has been a month of shameless self-promotion by law firms.Manches'
employment partner Tom Walker issued a press release on the day that the Pope announced that his increasing infirmity made it impossible for him to fulfil his duties:It will be interesting to see how this might affect the debate on the legitimate use of retirement ages. Is it evidence that in everyone's life there will come a time when that person must be retired because to carry out any job "both strength of mind and body are necessary"? Or will it be seen as proof that individuals will pick their own time to retire, without coercion from the employer?
The Pope, of course, doesn't have an employer. Although as millions believe that he is God's representative on Earth, Walker should perhaps be feeling a little nervous about trying to exploit his infirmity to win new clients.

with the following:
And finally came an email from Bowling & Co on Valentine's Day:
||Roses are red|
Violets are blue
We've got no taste
But will still act for you
It makes you proud to be part of such a noble profession.
